“…And He sends down hail from mountains (clouds) in the sky, and He strikes with it whomever He wills, and turns it from whomever He wills…”[i]
The Quran mentions hail and reminds us that Allah (swt) has the power to harm or to benefit us with it. Thus, we should always ask Allah (swt) to benefit us in the case of any kind of severe weather.
A very beautiful dua of Prophet Mohammad (saw) mentions snow and hail:
Dua Mentioning Snow and Ice[ii]
اللّهُـمَّ اغْسِلْنـي مِنْ خَطايـايَ بِالثَّلـجِ وَالمـاءِ وَالْبَرَدْ
“O Allah, cleanse me of my sins with snow, water and hail.”
Prophet Mohammad (saw) also included the following supplication in the supplications for the dead in the Funeral prayer: “O Allah! Wash him with water, snow and hail.”[iii]
He also mentioned, “My pond (on the Day of Judgment) is whiter than snow and sweeter than honey.”[iv]
