History of the Prophets
There are a vast number of books, resources and media available about the Prophets mentioned in the Quran. We will mention some good books and resources that can be used to study each prophet’s life in detail. However, the posts listed on this page will focus more on understanding where in place and when in time did each of the Prophets arrived.
Note: I have used maps from Darussalam’s The Atlas of the Quran compiled by Dr. Shauqi Abu Khalil. This is an excellent compilation and is one of the books I recommend for your bookshelves.

The first ayah of Surah Al Alaq mentions that Allah (swt), “Created”! And before He created us, He created various other things such as water, His throne, the Pen and the Preserved Tablets. Therefore, this should be the first lesson, before any study of any history, so that children are able to appreciate the Creation process.

Fifty thousand years after the creation of the Lohe Mahfouz, Allah (swt) created the Heavens and the Earth in six periods. The earth and the mountains were created on Saturday and Sunday, the trees on Monday, light on Wednesday, animals on Thursday and the first man on Friday.

Adam (as) was the first human being to be created. His eventful life has tremendous lessons for us. He was followed by his sons and grandsons who were the ancestors of Idris (as).

When we start studying the History of Ancient civilisations, we must study the life of Idris (as) as he was the one who introduced many of the inventions (writing, sewing, astronomy, construction) that made the civilizations great.
