Murad II (1404–1451), son of Mehmed I was the sixth Ottoman Sultan, known for his significant contributions to the stabilization and expansion of the empire after the turmoil of the Interregnum. Ascending the throne in 1421, he faced numerous challenges, including revolts, internal strife, and external threats from Christian coalitions in the Balkans and the Byzantine Empire. Through a series of military campaigns and diplomatic efforts, Murad II reasserted Ottoman dominance in the region, particularly in the Balkans, and paved the way for his son Mehmed II, under whom the empire would reach even greater heights with the conquest of Constantinople.
