Studying Science to know Allah (swt)

“Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the day and night there are signs for people of reason.” Surah Ale Imran (3:190)

In Surah Al Alaq, Allah (swt) mentions that He created us from Alaq, a Clot and He also says that He taught us all the knowledge which we knew nothing about. He states that He is Akram, and we know that through His Generosity, he has granted us this beautiful Earth which has a multitude of natural phenomenon which are His miracles. By studying the sciences we can reflect about the blessings, have absolute belief in Allah (swt) and be grateful to Him.

The articles posted here are to be used alongwith any mainstream science book or curriculum as a supplement to understand what the Quran and Hadith say about a particular science topic.

Allah (swt) created the Earth and heavens, and then parted the two, so that the wind would blow, the rain would fall, the springs and rivers would flow, the crops and fruits would grow and the animals would be fed. This is the origination of weather as we know it.

This article emphasizes that Wind can be either a mercy from Allah or a means of torment. It is one of the greatest signs showing the greatness and power of Allah

Allah (swt) talks about the clouds in the Quran – about how they move and how they release precipitation. Clouds are both a miracle and a blessing from Allah (swt).

The Quran mentions two types of heavy storms or hurricanes – one that can break everything and the other that can destroy everything. These storms are used to punish the civilizations that did not believe.

Rain is one of the most important requirements for human beings. Life on earth would simply cease to exist in the absence of rain. It is thus no surprise that the Quran provides substantial information about the formation, measure and effects of rain. This article also includes the duas associated with Rain and the rain prayer.

Thunder and Lightning are mentioned in various occasions in the Quran. Prophet Mohammad (saw) described thunder, by explaining that the angel responsible for the clouds uses a piece of fire to drive them wherever Allah wills.

The Quran mentions hail and reminds us that it can harm or benefit us. Prophet Mohammad (saw) mentions snow and hail in some of his most beautiful duas.

No one know when it will rain but Allah. Meteorologists do try to forecast and they also try to cloud seed, but in spite of that, what actually happens is in Allah (swt)’s hands.
